Beyonce Sued By Video Game Designers For Being A 'Diva Grinch'

Thursday, 28 April 2011 Written by James Conlon

Beyonce is being sued for $100 million and branded a 'diva grinch' by a video game company after supposedly breaking her contract and forcing 70 workers out of employment the week before Christmas. The ‘Run The World (Girls)’ singer is said to have demanded more money than she had initially agreed to appear in her own dance game, titled 'Starpower: Beyonce'.

According to The New York Post, The R&B singer breached a contract with game designers Gate Five and her extensive demands caused financers of the project to retract their support. The demands were said to be "a bad faith breach of contract so callous that, on what appeared to be a whim, she destroyed Gate Five's business, and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas".

According to the company, Beyonce had previously negotiated “lavish compensation terms", but chose to extend her conditions with Gate Five and "made an extortionate demand for entirely new compensation terms." Her actions are said to have "drove away the financier (who found Ms. Carter too erratic to do business with) and then pulled out of the project, breaching the agreement.”

Speaking to the New York paper, Gate Five CEO Dareh Gregorian said: "It was a very shocking and disappointing turn of events that no-one saw coming, and now we're all trying to pick up the pieces."

Beyonce is yet to make a comment on the claims.
