Rihanna Unveils Video For ‘California King Bed’ – Watch Now

Tuesday, 10 May 2011 Written by James Conlon

Rihanna has unveiled the music video for her latest single, ‘California King Bed’. The Barbadian singer is set to release the single next month after asking fans to vote for which track they’d like to be released next via Twitter.

The song, which is the latest to be released from her fifth studio album ‘Loud’, was selected above ‘Man Down’, ‘Cheers (Drink To That) and ‘Fading’ by fans on the social networking site. The promo sees Rihanna is surprisingly restrained form, a big change of pace from the controversial all-out sexual affair that was her previous release, ‘S&M’.

The track will be available for purchase from June 12th. You can watch the video for ‘California King Bed’ below:

Meanwhile, British music channel WTF TV has been criticised by Ofcom for airing Rihanna’s ‘S&M’ video at a time when children may have been watching. The video, which features elements of sexual bondage and sadomasochism, was heavily criticised by conservative commentators when it was released earlier this year.

Speaking on the Ofcom claim, a representative from WTF TV commented: "Rihanna is a popular artist and...the video 'S&M' does not contain images of dominant/submissive practices in a pornographic style. It reflects an artistic and soft interpretation of a reversal of roles in which Rihanna overpowers men. It is artistic and not dark or seedy."

They continued, stating that the video would be "likely to shock unknowing parents rather than the younger, street-wise consumer of the material".
