The Who’s Pete Townshend has revealed that he will be releasing his long-awaited memoir ‘Who He?’ next year. The singer and guitarist, who has been in the process of writing the memoir for the past 15 years, declared that the writing will address the paedophilic pornography which led to him being questioned by police in 2003.
The police questioning occurred with much public controversy after Townshend claimed that he was sourcing information for his book.
Speaking in a statement about the issue, Townshend said: "I believe I was sexually abused between the age of five and six and a half when in the care of my maternal grandmother who was mentally ill at the time. Some of the things I have seen on the internet have informed my book."
He continued: "If I have any compulsions in this area, they are to face what is happening to young children in the world today and to try to deal openly with my anger and vengeance toward the mentally ill people who find paedophilic pornography attractive."
‘Who He?’ has been described by the guitarist as a "rite of passage". The book will be published by Harper Collins and is expected to be published in the autumn of 2012.
