Gwyneth Paltrow's Record Deal In Doubt

Gwyneth Paltrow is reportedly frustrated after a potential deal with Atlantic Records is now on the blink of collapse. The actress is said to have gained the attention of several record labels after singing roles in ‘Country Strong’ and the hugely popular US series ‘Glee’, however it would appear that interest has now cooled.

An article in the New York Post has claimed that the actress, who was courted by “a lot” of labels earlier this year, was close to signing with Atlantic Records before the deal began to collapse. The singer was planning to record a country album similar to the material which she performed in ‘Country Strong’, it has been reported.

A source told the New York paper that Atlantic have now stepped back from signing the deal, but have not completely abandoned the prospect of signing Paltrow up. Thay said: "Atlantic bosses were very interested and [Atlantic owner] Lyor Cohen was very supportive. There was rumour that Paltrow wanted $1 million (£620,738) to sing but that is a ridiculous figure. Atlantic is still interested is signing her."

The paper went on to claim that Paltrow was not focusing on the prospect of her potential career due to distractions including a new cookbook and that little acting side-job she has. A representative for the actress said: "Atlantic was not the only company pursuing her, and she still has not decided if she wants to record an album - it is still something she is considering."
