Take That Make Last-Minute Changes To ‘Progress’ Stage

Tuesday, 24 May 2011 Written by James Conlon

Take That have made several last-minute changes to their set layout with less than a week to go before they begin their massive UK Arena Tour. The reunited five-piece are said to be constantly changing their decisions about stage movements and set arrangements, looking to push until the last minute to ensure that their ‘Progress’ tour lives up to the hype.

Speaking to The Sun, production designer Chris Vaughan tried to explain the stress that he is currently suffering while facing the unenviable job of orchestrating the biggest tour in UK history. He said: "I am numb from worry. If I stopped to think about it I'd be on a plane to Rio."

Vaughan continued: "We're desperately trying to make everything the band wanted to happen, happen. It is stressful, honing set design, people changing their minds and the show being tweaked some."

The shows are said to have cost around £15 million to stage, with an improbably large “futuristic” set design at the centre of the performance. 'Progress' will be twice the size of Take That’s previous tour ‘Circus’, and will require 110 trucks for equipment and 275 technicians on site each day.

As previously reported by Stereoboard, Mark Owen recently confessed that he had suffered a panic attack when the scale of the tour finally hit home for him.
