Shania Twain Announces Las Vegas Residency

Shania Twain has announced that she will embark on a two-year performance residency in Las Vegas. Starting from December 1st 2012, the country icon will begin her residency at The Colosseum in the city’s famous Caesar's Palace hotel and casino.

The ‘I’m Gonna Getcha Good’ singer confirmed the news via a statement on her official website. Describing the opportunity, she said: "This is a dream for any performing artist. What more could I ask for? I don't want to even use the word 'opportunity'. It's an exceptional gift, and that's how I really feel about it.”

Twain continued: "It's early stages and it's going to be a process, and I really don't know what you can expect. I'm going to make the most of this extraordinary platform. It's given me a huge freedom and I'm going to go nuts."

The singer also made a reference to fellow Canadian and Las Vegas veteran Celine Dion, who will apparently be helping Twain with the transition from touring to resident artist. She said: "The last time I spoke to Celine, it was about our babies. I consider this venture very personal. I think Celine will be very insightful and very helpful."

Meanwhile. Shania Twain appeared as a host at last night’s CMT Music Awards. The singer presented an award and also appeared in a three-minute ‘Thelma & Louise’ sketch with young icon Taylor Swift. You can watch the pair in action below:
