After bringing his Halloween show over to the UK for two nights of terror in London in 2010, Alice Cooper has taken it upon himself to return once more for the Halloween season, claiming, “The UK doesn’t really celebrate Halloween as much as it should. It’s a very theatrical place and I don’t think they’ve quite latched on to the idea that you get to dress up as anyone you want to dress up with and get candy.”
However, it’s not exclusive to London this time around. Embarking on a full UK tour, which goes ON SALE TODAY, Alice intends to shock, thrill and terrorise the entire country, beginning in Sheffield on October 25th and ending with an infamous Halloween show in Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium.
A tour is not the only exciting thing to look forward to for Alice Cooper fans. His new album ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’, sequel to 1975’s ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’ is a hot topic of conversation. “It’s probably one of the five best albums I’ve ever done,” said Alice prior to his set at Download Festival. ”It tells a different nightmare. It tells a more modern nightmare. What would be a nightmare for Alice now, 30 years later? Well still disco. Disco would still be a nightmare for him. Technology is a bit of a nightmare for Alice.”
“Alice goes into the nightmare and the nice thing about it is that we connected up themes from the original,” he continues. “Musically, it is really something. You’ve got 15 or 16 songs and they go in every direction. There’s a zombie beach party, there’s a disco hell that he’s in. I mean, it just goes in so many different directions.”
For those lucky enough to catch Alice’s performance at Download Festival, you may have had a taste of things to come. “A song called ‘I’ll Bite Your Face Off’,” tells Alice when asked if any new songs made it to his set. “It’s very Stones-y. It’s a tip of the hat to the Stones. Yeah, very early-sixties Stones kind of song but definite Alice lyrics; I’ll bite your face off.”
Alice is currently on a search for ‘freaks and fire starters’ to perform at his upcoming UK tour. Check out more details here www.alicecooper.com/freaks.
