Brighton-based folk singer Mary Hampton is to release her new single ‘Honey in the Rock’ on 4th July through Rough Trade records – listen below. The track is taken from her forthcoming album ‘Folly’, which is the follow-up to her 2008 debut ‘My Mother’s Children’. Mary is currently performing tracks from the new album on a tour of the UK, which has been taking place at a number of extraordinary settings around the country. She kicked off the short tour last week, which included dates in the roof garden of Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and Blaise Castle in Bristol. She will be completing these shows this weekend at Corsham Festival in Wiltshire – see below for remaining dates.
Mary Hampton released ‘My Mother’s Children’, her first commercially-available album, in 2008. The record followed a couple of self-produced releases entitled ‘Book One’ and ‘Book Two’, which she had recorded previously. Mary has also contributed vocals to Eliza Carthy’s album ‘Rough Music’ and to ‘Blow It Up, Burn It Down, Kick It Til It Bleeds’, the 2006 album by Stereolab side project Imitation Electric Piano.
