The Twilight Singers Announce New Single, UK Tour Dates & Tickets

US rockers The Twilight Singers have announced details of a new single entitled ‘Blackbird and the Fox’, which is due for release on 8th August. The track is the latest single to be taken from the band’s fifth album ‘Dynamite Steps’ – released earlier this year – and features guest vocals from Grammy Award-winning folk singer Ani DiFranco. The Twilight Singers have also confirmed details of several UK live dates. Following performances at this weekend’s Glastonbury Festival and T In The Park next month, the band will be playing headlining shows at The Garage in London (24th August) and Edinburgh’s Liquid Rooms (25th August) ahead of their appearances at the Reading and Leeds festivals – see below for dates and tickets.

Former Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli formed The Twilight Singers in 1997 as a side project to his other band and released the group’s debut album ‘Twilight’ in 2000. When The Afghan Whigs split up in 2001, The Twilight Singers became Dulli’s main project and he went on to release another four albums with the band, including 2006’s ‘Powder Burns’. In 2008, Dulli released the album ‘Saturnalia’ as part of the duo The Gutter Twins with former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan.

Speaking about the new Twilight Singers single ‘Blackbird and the Fox’, Dulli said: “I wrote the song during the Station fires in California in fall of 2009. There was a strangely beautiful haze of smoke covering the city and the sunsets were spectacular, which belied the devastation that the fires were wreaking. I saw the song as an inner dialogue between instinct and conscience and it haunted me for months.”

The Twilight Singers UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:

Wed August 24th 2011 - The Garage, London
