Arctic Monkeys Spark Label Competition

Arctic Monkeys are set to have record executives kneeling at their doorstep in the next few months as their deal with Domino Records comes to an end. The band are contracted with the London label until the end of their promotional duties for their fourth LP ‘Suck it and See’, however as the deal is set for renegotiation several rival record companies are said to be looking to poach the Sheffield four-piece.

According to The Sun, several other British labels are said to be courting the band, hoping to secure a deal before they re-sign with Domino. The paper quoted an ‘insider’ as saying: "The boys' four-album deal is nearly finished and their management are ready to meet labels who fancy picking them up. Signing the Arctics would be a huge coup for anyone right now, because they are guaranteed to sell huge numbers.

They continued: "They have a great relationship with Domino because the founder Laurence Bell has always given them a lot of creative control. And they could re-sign with the firm but now Domino face competition from the major labels, who are keen to wade in. It could be a huge bun fight."

Arctic Monkeys are set to tour until late 2012, when they are planning to take a break before beginning work on their fifth studio album.
