London-based down-tempo quintet Talk in Colour have announced the release of their debut single ‘Nightshifts’ as a free download through their SoundCloud page. The track, which you can listen to below, is the first to be taken from the band’s debut album ‘Colliderscope’ – due for release in February 2012.
Talk in Colour, who were originally known as The Shadow Orchestra, play a mixture of instrumental music and vocal-driven tracks. The band’s influences include the likes of Lamb, Battles, the xx and ‘Berlin’-era Bowie.
Talk in Colour’s debut single ‘Nightshifts’ is included in the soundtrack to the new British film ‘Junkhearts’ from BAFTA-winning director Tinge Krishnan, which was scored by the band’s Chris Bangs. ‘Junkhearts’, which stars Eddie Marsan, Tom Sturridge, Romola Garai and Candese Reid, tells the story Frank, an ex-soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress, whose world is turned upside down when he comes to the aid of young runaway Lynette. This weekend, the film premieres at the London Film Festival, where it has been nominated twice in the Best British Newcomer category for director Krishnan and actress Reid. An instrumental version of ‘Nightshitfts’ is included in the film’s trailer.
