Coldplay, U2 And Queen All Win Big At 2011 Q Awards

This year’s Q Award winners have been in revealed at the highly-regarded Q Award ceremony, which saw Coldplay, U2 and Queen all receiving a prestigious Q award.
But of course, soul-singer Adele was the highest scoring artist there, picking up two awards for Best Female Artist and Best Track for ‘Rolling in the Deep’ – through she was unable to attend the ceremony due to the illness which forced her to cancel her entire US tour.
Coldplay received the award for ‘Best Act in the World Right Now’, while Queen were inducted to the Q Hall of Fame – with pub landlord Al Murray hailing them as “probably the greatest fucking rock n’ roll band in the history of the world.” U2 were then given the high-status award of ‘Greatest Act of the Past 25 Years’, to which Bono replied “This is very humbling... if the Clash were up here, we'd be carrying their gear.”
Other award winners included ex-Oasis member Noel Gallagher, who is doing big things with his new band Noel Gallaher’s High Flying Birds, who got the Q Icon award. Red-headed singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran was deemed the best Breakthrough Artist, while Biffy Clyro were regarded as the Best Live Act. A full list of award winners can be seen below.
