Scottish trio Box Codax have announced the release of a split double A-side with Turner Prize-winning artist Martin Creed. The single will be released as a limited edition CD/DVD double-pack featuring Creed’s track ‘Where You Go’, which is produced by Box Codak’s Nick McCarthy, and ‘Dawning’ by Box Codak. The DVD will feature the Creed-directed video for ‘Dawning’ – watch below.
Martin Creed is a musician and an artist, who famously won the Turner Prize in 2001 for his piece ‘Work No. 227, The lights going on and off’. In January this year, Creed released the single ‘Thinking/Not Thinking’ and spent much of 2011 touring with his band as well as with his exhibitions. He is currently working on his debut album, which is due for release sometime next year.
Box Codax are a band from Glasgow featuring Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy. They released their debut album ‘Only an Orchard Away’ in 2006 and its follow-up ‘Hellabuster’ came out earlier this year.
Speaking about the new collaboration, Martin Creed said: “Working with Nick was revenge. I made a video for him and then to get me back he went and produced a song for me. I would have done the same thing. It’s only human.”
