Keith Richards Reveals 1973 Drugs Bust Details

The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards has revealed the details to his 1973 drugs bust which saw the rockstar face just a £250 fine although receiving 25 charges.

Richards was at home in Chelsea in June during 1973 when police raided his house, leading to the cops finding weed, heroin, Mandrax and two guns with ammo in the home. But, although he possessed the illegal drugs and weaponry, Keith was only slapped with a £250 fine and was free to continue rocking out for many years to come.

But, despite the paltry consequences, Richards is still adamant in his belief that the police set him up and also claimed he owned the weapons for protection when he played in Jamaica and the drugs belonged to Marshall Chess, the owner of Chess Record’s son.

“There is some sort of trouble [In Jamaica] and if you live there it's best for your own protection to have one. So I decided to get one together in readiness.”

Richards continued on to tell the Guardian that he advised his ‘manservant’ to make drinks for him and his girlfriend – so they could hide the burnt spoons they’d used for heroin in them, pretending they were stirrers.
