Gene Simmons Lays Into Axl Rose In Interview

KISS megastar Gene Simmons has laid into Guns N Roses frontman Axl Rose in an interview with MusicNewsWeb, determining him as the sole reason that Guns N Roses weren’t “the biggest band in the world.”

The star, who’s notorious for making comments about other celebrities (he once revealed that he believed Michael Jackson to be a paedophile), was asked in the interview whether he had any advice to stars like Axl Rose who want to improve their rockstar longevity and have a longer-lasting career.

Simmons replied: “If you’re lucky enough to be accepted on stage by the audience, if you’re lucky enough to be able to write a song, if you’re lucky enough to have charisma on stage, that’s the beginning. Then you’ve got be able to deliver, night after night after night – and not everyone is designed to run a marathon, and to be a rockstar, for decades, it’s like running a marathon.

“Guns N Roses could have been the biggest band in the world. And the reason they’re not is because of Axl Rose. It’s just the drugs, the heroin, the alcohol and all that. But ultimately it all falls on Axl’s shoulders.”

From there, the interview got more personal – when asked what could have been done to sort Axl out, Simmons replied. “A good beating would have helped. And when you misbehave as a kid and continue to do it there was someone there to give you a good one-four. But when you’re a grown up, who’s there to set you straight?”

A true clash of the egos could be set to take place – let’s just sit back and wait for Axl's response...
