Metallica & Black Sabbath To Headline Download 2012 - Earlybird Tickets Onsale Friday 18th November

Download Festival 2012 will return to the hallowed ground of Donington Park once again in June 2012. Celebrating it's 10th year and with Metallica AND Black Sabbath already confirmed to headline, I think it's pretty safe to say organisers are planning one hell of a party!

Dubbed as the biggest Download ever, the festival announced last week that Metallica will be performing their entire Number One album 'The Black Album' as a headline set, along with the ground-breaking news that legendary Black Sabbath will also headline at the weeekend bash which takes place from 8th to 10th June 2012.

Metallica have not played the sacred rock'n'roll grounds of Donington since 2006 and Lars revealed that he is “so looking forward to coming back”, adding that “there is no more of a sacred place to play than Donington”. The special performance, which will cap the bill on Saturday 9th June, will mark the 20th anniversary of the 'Black Album' release, which shoved Metallica into the realms of being one of the biggest bands in the world.

Second headliner, Black Sabbath, really need no hype or introduction to their confirmed headline set at Download 2012. Answering the prayers of millions of music fans worldwide, the original line-up of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward will return to Donington's stage on Friday 8th June for a set packed full of Sabbath classics as well as some new material!

Loads more bands are set to be announced over the coming weeks, as well as one more headline act. Check back to Stereoboard during the build-up to Download 2012, we'll be posting news on the line-up as soon as it is announced.
