Glastonbury & Sonisphere Scoop Top Honours at UK Festival Awards

Glastonbury, Bestival and Sonisphere all came out on top at this year’s UK Festival Awards, with each of them earning three of the most prestigious awards.

The iconic Glastonbury picked up the Best Major Festival award, which was last year picked up by Dj Rob da Bank’s Bestival. Bestival then in turn received the Fan’s Favourite award, after it pleased the masses with its diverse and strong line-up, which included names like Pendulum, Public Enemy, The Cure and PJ Harvey.

Metal-orientated festival Sonisphere got its hands on one of the biggest prizes – the award for best line-up. It earned the achievement after bringing together the Big Four of thrash metal – Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax – and putting them on stage together at the same event. They also had names such as Slipknot and Biffy Clyro – meaning each and every rocker there had a name which appealed to them.

Some of the artists who won at the awards ceremony include ginger-haired Ed Sheeran, who was nominated Best Breakthrough Artist, and Paolo Nutini, who was voted to have put on the Headline Performance of the Year for his set at Latitude Festival. A full list of winners can be seen below.
