Britain’s favourite furry eco-warriors The Wombles have launched their own attempt to take the Christmas #1 with ‘Wombling Merry Christmas’ – and it’s already got its own music video to accompany it.
The burrowing band, who’ve been around since 1968, also posed for the media in a photoshoot in a London HMV on Sunday, before taking pictures with the fans and friends who flocked to see the pointy-nosed singers.
‘Wombling Merry Christmas’ will go head-to-head with The X Factor for this year’s Christmas Number One. The chart stars will also be bringing ‘The W Factor’ to the festive season with the release of their greatest hits collection, a re-mastered compilation album of 20 Wombling greats including ‘Remember You’re A Womble’, ‘The Wombling Song’, ‘To Wimbledon With Love’, ‘Nashville Wombles’ and the much-loved ‘Minuetto Allegretto.’
