Saturday, 17 December 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

Belgian-born, Melbourne-based solo artist Wouter “Wally” De Backer aka Gotye – pronounced Gaulthier – has confirmed the release of his new single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ featuring Kimbra, which is due out on 6th February. It is the latest to be taken from his forthcoming album ‘Making Mirrors’ following last month’s ‘Easy Way Out’. Watch the music video for ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ below.

‘Making Mirrors’, Gotye’s third album to date, is due for official UK release on 13th February. In August of this year, it came out in Australia, where it reached Number One in the country’s official albums chart and has since been certified Double-Platinum. The album also entered the Top 10 in New Zealand, the Netherlands and Gotye’s home country Belgium. The new single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ has previously topped the charts in four countries.

At last month’s ARIA Music Awards in Australia, Gotye took home three awards for ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ – Single of the Year, Best Male Artist and Best Pop Release. Kimbra, who features on ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, also won Best Female Artist for her own single ‘Cameo Lover’.

Gotye recently completed a sold-out tour of Australia, which included a ‘Making Mirrors’ album launch show at the Sydney Opera House. He has since embarked on a world tour and will be heading back to the UK in February for several live dates to coincide with the release of ‘Making Mirrors’ – see below for details and tickets.
