The Streets are an English hip-hop/garage/electronic outfit based in Birmingham. Originally formed in 1994, the group was fronted by singer and instrumentalist Mike Skinner, who appeared alongside Johnny Drum Machine, Kevin Mark Trail, Leo the Lion, and a number of collaborators.
First emerging in the early '00s with Has it Come to This? (which reached #18), The Streets would go on to become one of the UK underground's flagship acts, bridging the gap between the gritty hip-hop and garage scenes and the mainstream.
Putting out their now-platinum debut, 'Original Pirate Material', in 2002, The Streets would reach #1 with their next two albums ('A Grand Don't Come for Free' and 'The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living'), and remaining a popular act for their next two records, until Skinner called time on The Streets in 2011.
However, in 2018, Mike Skinner admitted he misses touring with The Streets, and that they'll hit the road for UK tour 'The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light' in April 2018, playing through their classic hit collection. Skinner has even said he'll be putting on after parties for every show! It's been in incredible demand - so much so that after wrapping up the first leg of the tour, Mike Skinner and The Streets announced they'll tour again in early 2019!
