Mega-famous American rap duo Kanye West and Jay-Z managed to pocket themselves almost £4million from ONE GIG in December last year – performing for the daughter of super-rich Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour at her Super Sweet 16th birthday party.
The pair of superstars are rap icons in their own right and also form hip-hop duo Watch the Throne, who released their debut album last year. After touring all of America, Jay-Z and West were offered the chance to hit the jackpot just before Christmas – receiving £1.9million each for show in Dubai.
But Watch the Throne weren’t the only artists receiving megabucks for spectacular one-off gigs last month – the Red Hot Chili Peppers managed to earn themselves a hefty fee after Chelsea’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich decided they’d be perfect as the main act at his New Year’s Eve party. It was reported that Abramovich has spent over £5million on the shindig, although it’s unknown how much the Chili Peppers were paid.
