Corey Taylor has been touching on the new Stone Sour album that is currently in the works. The new record is due out later this year on Roadrunner Records and, should Corey and co. pull off what they’re aiming for, it sounds like a mammoth offering could be underway.
Speaking of how the album is coming together so far, Corey says, ““We’re still writing and recording stuff. Right now alone, we have 13 completed songs, with six more that I can demo, probably two or three that Josh still has that we’re tweaking, and then a bunch that Jim’s gonna bring in. Our ultimate goal is a double concept album, which the only way I can describe it is [Pink Floyd's] ‘The Wall’ meets [Alice In Chains'] ‘Dirt’ on steroids. And I think it’s gonna be fantastic. And if I can pull it off, it’s gonna be the biggest thing we’ve ever done in our career.”
Not much else is known about the follow up to 2010’s ‘Audio Secrecy’, but the mass of songs they currently have in the works is unsurprising as Corey confirmed they had already demoed 13 tracks a couple of weeks ago.
As for his other musical project, an album doesn’t look as imminent. While members have often spoke of ideas for a new album for Slipknot, Corey stated last month that he’s still not ready, explaining, “To be honest, I’m not ready to write a Slipknot album without Paul Gray yet, I don’t care what anybody says. [...] I mean, we’re already halfway there, but until we can make that album righteously and really take ourselves out of it and really make it so much about him, I don’t think we’re going to be ready do that.”
Corey Taylor has recently finished his solo tour, where he made the internet headlines by talking openly and frankly about his irks with everyone and everything from Scott Weiland and Rick Rubin to the battle of Hogwarts in the final Harry Potter movie.
