Andrew Bird Announces New Album ‘Break It Yourself’

American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird has announced the release of his sixth solo album ‘Break It Yourself’, which is due out on 5th March. The solo artist has also unveiled a track from the album called ‘Eyeoneye’ that you can listen to below. Andrew Bird will be performing an album launch show at the Barbican in London on the day of its release, and he will be returning to the UK in June for appearances at Field Day and No Direction Home Festival.

In addition to his solo work, Andrew Bird has also released music as part of the bands Bowl Of Fire and Squirrel Nut Zippers and has featured on albums by artists including Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and My Morning Jacket. He recently appeared on the soundtrack to the new Muppets film with the song ‘The Whistling Caruso’.

New album ‘Break It Yourself’ – the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Noble Beast’ – will be released on CD and LP as well as a Super Deluxe Edition, which includes two vinyl LPs, a CD, a DVD entitled ‘Here’s What Happened’, a lyrics sheet and a poster.

Speaking about the album’s recording process, Bird said: “It started out as a glorified rehearsal, the opposite of production, four musicians playing in a room together. Too many records sound like a series of decisions, not a performance. The DVD has film of us performing the actual take. Three quarters of the way through something clicks and it injects some adrenaline.”
