American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey has told MTV that although she is fast-becoming an international superstar, she is still a down-to-earth individual – and even still works her original baby-sitting job.
Del Rey’s debut album ‘Born to Die’ hits shelves today, with the singer already a well-known star in her home country as well as over here in the UK. Her track ‘Video Games’ has already become a major hit single, and she’s performed on Saturday Night Live. But, instead of living like a star, she still works her baby-sitting job and even takes her fans out to dinner.
“People would be surprised to know that I live a really quiet life,” she told MTV. “I do a lot of the same things every day when I'm home. I still have the same babysitting job. I babysit twice a week. When I'm here… that's what I do, because it's something I've been doing for a while. But I've been travelling a lot.”
In a different interview, this time with The Sun, Del Rey revealed: “In California and London I'm getting recognised more and more. It's usually really friendly exchanges - someone will just say, 'Is it you?' And I usually just say, 'Yes'. Then we just end up talking and being friends. I've ended up being friends with lots of fans I've met. I've had dinners and stuff like that in New York.”
