Scottish singer-songwriter David Sneddon, who won the first series of Fame Academy in 2002, has told the Independent that fast-rising star Lana Del Rey is not ‘inauthentic’ or ‘manufactured’.
Sneddon, who co-wrote Del Rey’s hit ‘National Anthem’, was once hit with similar claims, and has now taken to press to try and stop people thinking the same of his friend and fellow artist Lana.
He told the newspaper: “She'd spent a while working on her sound before we met her so we were pretty quick to learn what she wanted out of a song. The lyrics are incredibly personal to her and although she enjoys the mystique of Hollywood imagery, you'll find a story wrapped up in every song.
“We get along really well with Lana and had a lot of fun working with her on this album. If Lana wants to collaborate on the next album, we'd love to be involved. Quite simply, her songs are fantastic.”
Earlier today Del Rey told of how she is still a down to earth individual despite her rising fame – and that she still works the same baby-sitting job.
