Republican Candidate Newt Grinrich Sued By 80's Rockers Survivor

Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has managed to run into some trouble with 80s rockers Survivor – after it emerged he had been using their classic track Eye of the Tiger as his ‘intro’ for the past two years without their permission.

Gingrich, who could end up the main Republican candidate at the up and coming US elections, has been using the track as his introduction theme whenever he enters events since back in 2009, and there are even videos of him using it plastered all over YouTube.

Now the rockers have become aware of the usage, they’re looking to pursue legal action that would immediately stop him using the track – and also see the band receive an undisclosed amount of money for ‘damages’.

The lawsuit was filed in Illinois last night, and will be fiercely battled by the band – who appear to not be fans of the politician. Gingrich has yet to comment on the episode, and its unknown whether he will still be using the track at events in the run up to the case.

It follows the story of US President Barack Obama singing Al Green's 'Let's Stay Together' at a fundraiser in New York.

The video below shows Newt entering CPAC in 2011, with the track blasting in the background.
