Tuesday, 31 January 2012 Written by Rob Sleigh

Canadian punk rockers Fucked Up have announced the release of ‘The Year of the Tiger’, the latest in their ‘Zodiac’ series of 12” EPs, which is due out on 6th February. The band’s label Matador Records have made all five singles in the series available to listen to via their website and have confirmed that ‘Year of the Tiger’ will be added upon its release next week – listen below.

‘Year of the Tiger’ is the follow-up to the 2010’s ‘Year of the Ox’, which featured contributions from Russian singer Zola Jesus and a Toronto string quartet. Fucked Up’s ‘Zodiac’ series also includes ‘Year of the Dog’, ‘Year of the Pig’ and ‘Year of the Rat’.

Last year, Fucked Up released their critically-acclaimed third album, the punk rock opera ‘David Comes to Life’. The band’s lead vocalist Damian Abraham recently revealed in an interview with Spinner that they would be going on hiatus so that he can spend some time with his family: “I have no idea how it's all going to work out. I know we're going to take this long break and hopefully we can think about it and figure it out a little more.”
