Superstar soul singer Adele has opened up about the vocal cord injury which forced her to cancel a whole US tour as well as a handful of UK dates, as well as go under the knife.
Adele was diagnosed with having a recurrently bleeding benign polyp, and had to have vocal cord surgery in order to save her voice. While she has made a full recovery, and will be performing at the Grammy Award Ceremony on the weekend, Adele has told US TV show 60 Minutes about her ordeal – during which she used a swearing voice-recognition program to communicate.
“It felt like someone put a curtain over my throat,” she told the show.”It felt like something popped in my throat.” She continued on to say: “I had an application on my phone that you type the words into it and then it speaks it. But the great thing is I love to swear. Most of [the apps] you can't swear on, but I found this one app where you can swear, so I'm still really getting my point across.”
Adele is up for six different Grammys this year, and was praised by the Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl as someone he was ‘honoured’ to be competing for awards with.
