Modest Mouse have announced their first new album in five years.

'An Eraser And A Maze', the follow-up to 2021's 'The Golden Casket', will arrive on June 5. It will be their first full-length release for lead singer Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace Recordings imprint of Virgin, following over two decades with Epic Records.

The album was produced by Brock, with additional production by Jacknife Lee, Suzy Shinn and Justin Raisin. Brock said: "For this one, I turned off my filter and just let it all happen. Even though every goddamn musician says that when they put out a record. I mean, go ahead and listen to the three-minute mark of any interview between a musician and Terry Gross …

"Thoughts, emotions, feelings, all that stuff … you're like the soup, and it’s not always easy to pick out the ingredients. I don't dwell on things much. I don't grieve much. I'm not sure I'm a person. I feel like I should have more feelings than I do. But then, you know, I'll sing stuff. And I'm like, Oh, there it is. Oh — it's in there."

The record will include the American indie-rockers' March single Look How Far... and the newly shared opening track, Picking Dragon's Pockets, a punchy and hook-heavy offering that leans into the more choatic edge of their sound, with jagged riffs, synths and crashing percussion.

Modest Mouse will support the LP with a run of previously scheduled North American shows this spring and summer, including a number of US festival appearances and a Washington date supporting My Chemical Romance.

They've also scheduled another leg of North American dates for September and October, with tickets going on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (April 24).

Support on select spring and summer dates will come from Mattress, Sun Atoms, Silver Triplets of the Rio Hondo, Pinback and Mike Watt & The Missing Men, with Caroline Rose joining for their shows from September 29 onwards.

Since their last album, Modest Mouse also released an expanded edition of their 2004 breakthrough album, 'Good News For People Who Love Bad News', in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
