Dr Feelgood 'All Through The City (With Wilko 1974-1977)' Boxset Set For April Release

EMI records have today confirmed that 'All Through The City (With Wilko 1974-1977)', a Dr Feelgood boxed set of three CDs and a DVD, will be released on 2nd April. CDs will include the first four Dr. Feelgood albums, plus previously unreleased material.
 Lee Brilleaux, Wilko Johnson, Sparko and The Big Figure, collectively known as Dr Feelgood, came busting out of Canvey Island, on the Essex Delta, in 1971 - all cheap suits, an uneasy air of menace and some of the tightest and hardest rhythm and blues around.
Dr. Feelgood’s distinctive British sound was centred on Wilko Johnson’s choppy guitar style, Lee Brilleaux’s sneering pre-punk growl and a solid rhythm section. Their name derived from a slang term for heroin or for a doctor who was willing to over-prescribe drugs. It is also a reference to a 1962 record by the American blues pianist and singer Willie Perryman.
Dr. Feelgood was known primarily for their high energy live performances, although studio albums like 1974's 'Down by the Jetty' and 1975's 'Malpractice' were also incredibly popular. Their 1976 breakthrough live album, 'Stupidity' reached Number One in the Official UK Album Chart. Shortly after the band released their 1977 fourth album, 'Sneakin’ Suspicion, Johnson departed to pursue a solo career (tour dates listed below).
The list of '70s New Wave bands who acknowledge the influence of Wilko and the Feelgoods is extensive and includes The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Jam, The Boomtown Rats, and across the Atlantic The Ramones and Blondie (who spent a whole night at a New York party wearing out their specially imported copy of the Feelgood's first album, 'Down by the Jetty').
