Alternative rockers Keane have confessed that they may have a little too ‘self-indulgent’ on their last record – and promised fans that their new album will contain 10-12 tracks which could all be released as singles.
Their latest record, ‘Strangeland’, is due out on May 7th and is their first record since ‘Perfect Symmetry’ came out in 2008. With the band preparing for its release, they admitted that they felt their previous album was an ‘unusual step’ for them – and confirmed that they’d be returning to their typical sound – and that they’d be giving themselves headaches trying to choose which of the tracks should get a release.
“We felt that 'Perfect Symmetry' was pretty sprawling, a little bit self-indulgent in places,” frontman Tom Chaplin told XFM. “Certainly sonically – we referenced Bowie, Talking Heads, those kind of bands, which was quite an unusual step for us.
“With this record, we felt we wanted to get back to having a problem with choosing singles. Like being stuck with 10 or 12 real single contenders from the album. We've had a lot of headaches over which song we should release first!”
Keane have lined-up a UK tour to coincide with the release of the album – so if you’re a fan, make sure you grab yourself some tickets. Check the dates and details below and find out when they’ll be coming to a venue near you.
