Liam Gallagher Defends Decision To Play Oasis Tracks With Beady Eye This Summer

Mancunian rocker Liam Gallagher has defended his decision to play Oasis with his new band Beady Eye, following yesterday’s news that the group, which is almost a direct reincarnation of Oasis, would be performing their tracks at summer gigs this year.

Originally, the band refrained from playing the world-famous band’s classics, which include hits like ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ and ‘Wonderwall’, and instead played tracks from their debut album as well as covers. But, after confirming that they’d be performing at Japan’s Fuji Rock festival in July, Liam revealed that there will be a few Oasis tracks in their setlist.

Some fans, however, weren’t happy at the idea and accused Liam of being ‘desperate’ – with one even claiming that the move was a ‘confession of failure’. And, being a Gallagher, Liam was always going to reply to the comments – and said: “Listen up squares we're playing them live not re-recording them so chill.”

Liam made the announcement that they’d be playing the tracks yesterday, saying: “We're doing Fuji Festival in Japan, which is in July. And we will be dropping Oasis songs for anyone who's bothered. The time is right now, without a doubt. We were always going to do it, but we thought the [debut Beady Eye] album needed to stand on its own. We've done some good gigs, we've done some shit gigs. And it's time to drop them in now. Everyone else is. I feel they're just as much my songs as they are Noel's. And if people don't like it, go to the bar or fuck off. If they do like it, jump up and down, let's have a good time.”
