One Direction To Play For The Queen At Diamond Jubilee Concert?

Fresh off of the announcement of their first ever headline US tour, One Direction have confessed that they’d love to perform at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations on June 4th.

The group have had a sensational start to 2012, with the band embarking on their first run of dates in America – something which has now helped them become the first ever British act to have their debut album hit #1in the charts, as well as earn them their own US TV show on Nickelodeon. But, despite their complete domination of the United States, the boys haven’t forgotten about their home country – and what’s more patriotic than performing at a party organised for The Queen?

Group member Harry Styles told The Daily Mirror: “I'd love to meet Her Royal Highness. And I grew up listening to the Beatles because my dad used to play them over and over again. I still listen to them now. They're quite an inspiration. It'd be amazing if Paul McCartney was up for doing something... I love him. That would be incredible. We've got a lot of big plans but I'm sure anything would be struck out of the diary if an invitation came along.”

The Diamond Jubilee gig is being organised by Take That’s Gary Barlow and will see a number of huge acts and musicians, including Stevie Wonder, Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran and JLS, performing just outside Buckingham Palace in celebration of The Queen’s 60 years on the throne. You can no longer apply for tickets to the event, but you’ll be able to watch it live on BBC One – with the event also being streamed via BBC Radio 2.

If you’re a fan of One Direction, you can catch them on their up and coming UK tour. If you need tickets, check the dates and details below – US fans, click here.
