Kraftwerk To Release New Album

German synth-pop icons Kraftwerk have announced that they'll be releasing a new album – and it'll be hitting shelves 'soon'.

The band last put out a studio album in 2003 but have apparently returned ready with a new record – with original member and founder Ralf Hütter telling fans that the band 'didn't fall asleep'. The new album comes following their eight-day residency at New York's Museum of Modern Art, where they've been performing tracks spanning from 1974 to 2003 – with 3D imaging and some extremely cool surround sound customisation.

Speaking to the New York Times, Hütter said: “We didn't fall asleep. The 168-hour week is still going on since the beginning, since 1970. Kraftwerk is a living organism. Music is never finished. It starts again tomorrow. The record is just a record, but for us it's nearly boring.”

He continued: “We like better the programs that we can operate with. So we are operating, we are upgrading, we are updating continuously. There's continuous reprogramming going on, and composition and new concepts are also coming.”
