Pop and R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo has hit back at claims that he copied the title of his new album ‘R.E.D’ from rapper The Game’s 2011 record ‘The R.E.D Album’ – saying ‘until The Game comes up to me and says he has a problem with it, I don't care what people think.’
The Game’s album managed to hit #1 in the Billboard chart upon release and now that Ne-Yo has changed the title of his album to something similar, claims that he is trying to make money off of The Game’s success have been flying around the net.
But, speaking to TMZ, Ne-Yo has stated that this is not the case, and claimed that the new title simply ‘made sense’.
“No... I don't feel like I ripped off The Game's album,” he told the site. “As I was doing the album, [the original title] The Cracks in Mr Perfect just didn't make sense any more, it didn't fit any more... however, R.E.D - Realising Every Dream - did.”
He continued: “It actually wasn't even brought to my attention that that was the name of The Game's last album until I came up with the name. Until The Game comes up to me and says he has a problem with it, I don't care what people think. Jay-Z did The Blueprint and so did KRS-One.”
R.E.D is set to hit shelves on June 26th.
