After months of speculation, Mogwai have been announced as the third and final headliner for August's Green Man festival. Joining previously confirmed Van Morrison and Feist, the veteran Glaswegian instrumentalists will provide a spectacular ending to the Friday night of the Glanusk Park event as they finish up the first night's main stage entertainment.
Other bands added to the bill include the resurgent Dexys, an updated version of 80's legends 'Dexys Midnight Runners' fronted by the irrepressible Kevin Rowland. Their critically acclaimed new album 'One Day I'm Going To Soar' is released next Monday and is sure to feature heavily in the set.
One of the highlights of last year's event, Benjamin Francis Leftwich makes a triumphant return to Brecon. After a breathtakingly high quality set in 2011 he'll attract a bigger crowd for this years festival showcasing his outstanding debut 'Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm' Read what we thought of his recent Cardiff show here.
Also added to the bill are Baltimore new wavers Lower Dens, King Charles, Withered Hand, Paul Thomas Saunders, Crybaby and Stuff, as well as the wonderful Cate Le Bon, the Welsh songstress who has been wowing crowds with her live shows (most notably at Swn's recent Canton Crawl event) and with her brilliant debut album 'Cryk'
Sited in an area of outstanding natural beauty at Glanusk Park, Brecon, Green Man festival is truly unique. With a main stage overlooked by the imposing black mountains it's one of the most awe inspiring places to experience live music anywhere in the UK, if not the whole World. It's eclectic line-up proudly features many names not established in the mainstream, instead offering a voyage of musical discoveries with three main music stages hosting a little bit of everything. Even if you turn up not knowing any of the acts playing I guarantee you'll come home with a handful of new favourite bands.
Combine this with its mixture of comedy, literature, cinema, children's entertainment, themed areas and just generally fun and relaxed vibe, it's no surprise the event sells out year on year and has been voted the UK's best medium sized festival.
