Finnish goth metal outfit Nightwish have announced a four-date tour of the UK, following the release of their latest album ‘Imaginaerum’.
The latest record is the seventh of their long career and the band have been travelling around the world as part of the Imaginaerum World Tour, which has taken them across the US, Canada, and Europe. Now, they’ve finally released their planned UK dates, halfway through what is expected to be a two year, 100 concert plus world tour.
You’ll be able to catch Nightwish performing in Manchester’s O2 Apollo on November 4th, and then London’s Brixton Academy, Birmingham’s O2 Academy, and Glasgow’s O2 Academy in the following days. Tickets go onsale next Friday (June 15th) and will cost around £18.50 + fees (London gig around £20.00 + fees).
Speaking about the new album, Nightwish founder and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen said: “It all started during the spring of 2007 when we were finishing the mixings for `Dark Passion Play´. I remember vividly listening through the songs and thinking: ‘what would be the next chapter in Nightwish’s chronicles?’
“When I look back at our catalogue, I see the evolution of the band, how the stories and musical landscapes evolve from one album to the next one, to the next one, to this present moment. During that time, I strongly felt we need the next chapter to be something no-one`s ever done before in music. Something so big, crossover, detailed, innovative and nuts that it would leave the band, and hopefully the people experiencing it, completely awestruck. Love it or hate it, but awestruck nonetheless.”
