Muse will release a new album this summer.
'The WOW! Signal', the long-awaited follow-up to 2022's 'Will Of The People', is due out on June 26. The English rock trio announced it in a very unique way, launching a specially designed tablet 33km up into the atmosphere to premiere the video for the record's first single, Be With You, while a second package carried stickers that will be used for a limited-edition vinyl release.
The album takes its name from an interstellar mystery from 1977, when a powerful 72-second radio burst was detected from the constellation Sagittarius with a bandwidth and intensity that suggested it could be emanating from an extraterrestrial source. The astromer who made the discovery circled the sequence “6EQUJ5” and wrote “WOW!” next to it, hence the name.
Head below to check out Be With You, plus the album's artwork and tracklist. The track finds the band dialling up the drama to 11, opening with an ominous organ accompanying frontman Matt Bellamy's trademark upper register vocals before electronic beats enter the fold and propel things forward into a full-blown rock expansion, complete with a face-melting guitar solo from Bellamy. Watch the video below.
Alongside news of the album, Muse have announced a London show at the O2 Academy Brixton for April 3. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on March 27.
Following that, they'll play the American Family Insurance Amphitheater in Milwaukee, Wisonsin on July 2 for Summerfest and Festival d'été de Québec in Canada on July 17. Tickets are on sale now.
