American punk-rockers Green Day have opened up about their forthcoming trilogy of albums ‘¡Uno!’, ‘¡Dos!’ and ‘¡Tré!’ - and have claimed that they sound like a cross between “AC/DC and The Beatles”.
The band have decided to release a series of three LPs over the course of the next six months - starting with ‘¡Uno!’ on September 24th - and have revealed what kind of sound the Californian veterans will be producing with their new material.
Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone: “The last two records were studio albums. This one - we started rehearsing every day, constructing these songs together. It felt like we were all in a room jamming - everyone in the mix, throwing out ideas. If you listen to it, it feels grand. But it also feels like a garage band.”
He added finally: “We wanted something punchier, more power pop - somewhere between AC/DC and the early Beatles.”
While ‘¡Uno!’ is set to hit shelves on September 24th, ‘¡Dos!’ will get a release on November 12th and ‘¡Tré!’ on January 14th 2013 - meaning the winter months will be chock-full of Green Day goodness.
