The Strokes Working On New Album, Says Guitarist's Father

Garage rock icons The Strokes are in the studio working on their fifth studio album, according to reports from Albert Hammond, Jr’s father.

Rumours that the five-piece were working on yet another new record - their fourth, ‘Angles’, came out last year - were rubbished by the band’s record label and their managers back in June, but now, comments from Hammond, Jr’s father suggest otherwise - and it looks like there will indeed be a new Strokes album in the near future.

“Albert says that the stuff they're doing is incredible,” Hammond, Sr told NME. “They're doing it themselves with their friend, engineer and producer. He just says 'Dad, it's incredible'.”

He went on to talk about the sound of the record and how it would differ from previous releases, saying: “I don't think they'll go in a wildly different direction. Obviously the songs will be different, but I think The Strokes are The Strokes; they always will be The Strokes.”

No official release date or tracks have been confirmed as of yet and the record is in it’s early days - so stay with Stereoboard to stay up-to-date on The Strokes.
