The Apples Announce 'Fly On It' Release Date

Israeli post-funk nine-piece instrumental outfit The Apples have announced that they’ll release their latest album ‘Fly On It’ through Audio Montage on 6th August.

Kings of raw funk, The Apples have been creating genre melting, infectious grooves for nearly a decade. Blending a composition of decks, horns, double bass, drums and electronic effects, The Apples create a big band vibe mixed with their Middle Eastern influences, to create a signature sound that pushes the boundaries of modern funk.

Originally commissioned by Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios for Bowers & Wilkins' Society of Sound, the recording session for ‘Fly On It’ took place over two days in Wiltshire at legendary studios Big Room. The vast, innovative space gave The Apples the perfect setting in which to further their quest to truthfully represent their explosive live sound in a studio setting.

The straight up-and-down body rocking opener ‘Preserve’ is an idiosyncratic album preview - a horn driven menace featuring a heavy funk beat anchored by a massive double bass line, topped with a fiery trombone solo and comic samples, while the huff-and-puff banger ‘Thang’ drew the legendary Kid Koala out of remix-retirement and garnered praise from Planet Notion, DJ Mag, Buzz Magazine and more. Constantly reaching further and deeper in all directions, the band flies through their countless influences, from the roller-coaster ride of the title track to the cinematic vortex of ‘Sixth Stream’.

The group played a sold out string of UK & Europe tours recently too, bringing their raw energy, brute force and drum breaks to the stage where their sound really flourishes. The Apples also garnered praise and international success for the now notorious track ‘Killing’, a cover of Rage Against The Machine, and their spine tingling tribute to Amy Winehouse with their cover of ‘You Know I’m No Good’.
