Bloc Party Frontman Kele Okereke Voted Sexiest Man In Indie

When it was reported that indie-rock vocalist Kele Okereke had been dropped by his band Bloc Party, it was thought that a great band would be losing a great vocalist, and their fans were extremely unhappy with the news. But, after the reports turned out to be false and simply a dig at NME, it meant that Okereke would fortunately remain as BP frontman. But, now the reason he stayed is clear - because he’s just picked up the Sexiest Man in Indie Rock award!

The recent poll was conducted by Nerve, the same company that recently found St Vincent’s Annie Clark to be the sexiest female in indie rock, and saw new-comer Michael Kiwanuka finish 5th and The Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon take the 8th spot. Yeasayer’s Anand Wilder came runner-up in the poll, followed by Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos. Phoneix’s Deck D’arcy completed the Top 5.

Okereke’s win comes just after the announcement of Bloc Party’s October UK tour. These performances give fans another chance to enjoy material from both their new album 'Four', alongside those more familiar tracks from the band’s 10 year history. 'Four' is the London four piece’s first full-length since 2008's acclaimed 'Intimacy', and is released on August 20th via Frenchkiss Records.
