MC DRS Unveils 'Count To Ten' Video Ahead Of Debut Album Release

The much-experienced and highly-talented MC DRS has unveiled the brand new music video for his latest piece of rewind-material ‘Count to Ten’.

For those of you that have been living in an electronic-music proof cave in the past year or two, the Manchester-based master of ceremonies has been a major force in the game as of recent times, and is smashing out huge releases alongside some of the biggest names in drum and bass left, right, and centre.

The Enei-produced ‘Obsession’, which came out at the start of the year, is still as intensely popular and fresh now as it was upon release - but instead of ride it’s success, DRS has just unleashed yet another stupidly large track into the wild, all whilst working on his debut album. And, with ‘Count to Ten’ another Enei produced track, Stereoboard believes that there may well be a third Enei-produced piece on the way - completing what will surely be the gnarliest trilogy of 170bpm business the scene has possibly ever seen (can you think of any meaner? Leave us a comment!)

While some of you may remember DRS from tracks as far back as the early 90s, where he’d MC for Marcus Intalex in the early hardcore days, 2012 seems to be the year of the drum and bass vocal - it can be considered quite the achievement if you’ve been to a dance this year and not heard Dub Phizix’s ‘Marka’ - and DRS is pretty much spearheading what is an extremely welcome new wave of drum and bass.

His album, ‘I Don’t Usually Like MC’s But...’, is set to hit shelves at the end of August, and features every spectrum of drum and bass imaginable - all of which DRS has worked to absolute perfection. From the summery, soulful sounds of ‘Holding On’ - made alongside Lenzman, Jehst, and Riya - to the darker elements found within ‘Count to Ten’ (both of which feature on a single out July 30th), the album is diverse amongst one genre, and features production from names like dBridge, Calibre, S.P.Y, Lynx, Dub Phizix, his old pal Marcus Intalex and many more. Though he is currently on top of the drum and bass game, his roots also lie in the field of hip-hop, and he's able to work his flow into any BPM you lay before him. Zed Bias, a legend of garage music, describes DRS as a ‘badman MC, badman producer, and badman illustrator' and 'a veteran who’s still on the cutting edge’ - proving that he's a recognised name across the whole spectrum of the underground music scene.

As with a new album, a tour of the UK is necessary - and, though he spends one half of his time in clubs (the other half slaving on the studio/tweeting his balls off), he’ll be hitting the road to coincide with his LP’s release. Stay with Stereoboard for more information on those dates as they surface.

In the meantime, check out the incredible ‘Count to Ten’ below.
