Gary Numan Announces December UK Tour

English singer-songwriter Gary Numan has announced a December UK tour this morning, his second run of dates since the start of the year.

The star, most famous for his track ‘Cars’ and his time fronting punk rock outfit Tubeway Army, will perform seven gigs across Britain this winter, as he follows up his previous UK tour which took place earlier this summer.

The trip, kicking off December 2nd, will take him to venues in Southampton, Manchester, Edinburgh, Norwich, Wolverhampton, and London, before rounding off with a gig in Nottingham’s Rock City on December 8th. Numan’s most recent album ‘Dead Son Rising’ was released in October last year, and is Numan’s first original album in five years, following 2006’s ‘Jagged’. Speaking about ‘Dead Son Rising’, Numan said: “The original ideas that sparked off these songs are now barely visible. It’s grown into another animal, something more experimental.”

Gary Numan’s career has spanned nearly 35 years, during which time he has influenced the likes of Prince, Nine Inch Nails and Kanye West. In 2009, he released a special 30th anniversary edition of his classic third album ‘The Pleasure Principle’, which features the hit single ‘Cars’. At the height of his career during the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, Gary Numan achieved five Top 10 albums and numerous Top 40 singles. His music has been sampled by a number of different artists - such as the Sugababes, who used a portion of his track ‘Are Friends Electric?’ on their 2001 hit ‘Freak Like Me’.
