Multi-Platinum US rockers Matchbox Twenty are to perform a one-off show at London's Shepherds Bush Empire next month. The September 18th performance will follow the release of the band's long awaited new 'North' album on September 4th. Matchbox Twenty Tickets are on sale from 9am on Friday 17th August.
'North' is the band's fourth full-length offering since their 1996 debut 'Yourself and Someone Like You', and their first album of original material for over a decade following 2002's 'More Than You Think You Are'.
The album's lead single, 'She's So Mean', is the first taste of brand new Matchbox Twenty music since 'Exile On Mainstream', a best of compilation released 5 years ago which contained six tracks specifically recorded for the release.
The band Rob Thomas, Kyle Cook, Brian Yale and Paul Doucette - wrote the album in summer 2011 whilst living together in Nashville. The group hooked up with their long time Grammy award winning producer Matt Serletic at his Emblem Studios in Calabasas, California to record the material. "The title refers to us finding our way," Doucette reveals "We went into this record with a lot of material. Many different songs that could have taken us in many different directions. It sort of overwhelmed us for a bit. But, at a certain point, we figured it out. We figured out where 'North' was."
Matchbox Twenty have developed a large following of loyal and devoted UK fans due to three albums specialising in emotional, soulful rock music and boasting timeless songs like 'Push', 'Real World, 'Long Day', 'Bent' and 'Disease'. The guys shocked their own record company back in 2003 when they sold out London's Wembley Arena after being informed by the label that they weren't popular enough! Tickets for this new London show are sure to sell fast.
