Franz Ferdinand Guitarist Unveils New Side Project 'The Nice Nice Boys'

Introducing 'Round Town', the debut single from production team The Nice Nice Boys - aka Franz Ferdinand’s Nick McCarthy and Andy Knowles of Johnny Marr and The Healers.

ImageTheir collaboration with up-and-coming hip-hop artist Marvellous Macc Mello is an unorthodox mixture of high-end indie pop and uncompromising UK hip-hop. Recorded in McCarthy’s Sausage Studios and mixed at Abbey Road the single is released on McCarthy and Knowles’ label Meat Records.

McCarthy and Knowles met at The Glasgow School of Art in 2001, and toured the world together in Franz Ferdinand (Knowles as the band’s touring musician). With very similar taste in music, they always wanted to produce something together and when they heard Macc Mello they knew this was an exciting young artist they had to work with.

Marvellous Macc Mello is a recognised figure on the London hip hop scene known for his unique style and determination to breakout and breakout big. With his debut single 'Drop That Beat' appearing on E4’s Skins and the Feature Film Eden Lake, and with 2 more EPs due this September, he’s well on the way to achieving this dream.

This collaboration with The Nice Nice Boys is typical of Macc’s thirst to experiment with other genres and to make sure he can never be pigeon-holed.

'Round Town' is out now on iTunes.
