Paul Gray's Doctor Facing Eight Manslaughter Charges

An Iowa-based doctor could be facing up to 16 years prison after being charged with the involuntary manslaughter of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, as well as seven others.
Dr Daniel Baldi has been hit with the charges after it was discovered that he had been over-prescribing patients, eight of which went on to overdose - including Gray, who accidentally overdosed in 2010. American authorities recently shut Baldi’s clinic down but offered no explanation as to why - but it seems pretty clear now that he could be in a lot of trouble.
As well as a hefty prison sentence, Baldi is also likely to lose his job if found guilty, and will probably have his medical license suspended. It is believed that he would face up to 16 years in prison if found guilty on all accounts.
Nine people - including Gray’s Slipknot bandmate Shawn Crahan and his widow Brenna - have been included on the preliminary complaints list, who’ve all been interviewed in the run up to the case. Slipknot are believed to be preparing a statement on the news, though nothing has surfaced from the yet.
It’s a familiar story that we know all too well from the death of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, who’s doctor Conrad Murray is now serving four years in prison for his involvement. Baldi’s lawyer, though, has said: “It is unprecedented to turn unfortunate deaths or medical results into a crime against a doctor.”
