Psychedelic pop outfit Yeasayer have announced details of their latest single ‘Reagan’s Skeleton’, out October 22nd via Mute.
With the US presidential election taking place shortly after its release, it seems fitting to have a song dedicated to one of the country’s most loved and hated presidents. Described by Time Out as a ‘sure-fire dancefloor killer’, ‘Reagan’s Skeleton’ has already been championed by Zane Lowe and Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1, as well as John Kennedy on Xfm.
'Fragrant World', the album from which the single is taken from, is out now, and is testament to the unique identity Yeasayer have carved out for themselves in the music community. They have managed to grow and expand into what they are now without losing touch with what made them so compelling in the first place; their willingness to pull from every musical source imaginable.
Couched in healthy fear, yet unafraid to move forward and expand, pulling in new influences just as frequently as new worries, Yeasayer have created a dense and beautiful record. It is as much a synthesis of the last three decades of pop music as it is a way of dealing with the oddities of life.
