Foals Return After Two-Year Gap With Comeback Track 'Inhaler'

Tuesday, 06 November 2012 Written by Catherine Rea

“Inhaler” is the lead single announced for their third studio album “Holy Fire”, set to release in February 2012. With two top ten albums already behind their name, the Oxford band prepare for their return with their third and most exhilarating album yet.

Heavier than anything the Foals have previously written, the single sets them up for stadium tours. The Foals yesterday announced their first solo London show since the Brixton Academy in 2010, and will be playing in the prestigious Royal Albert Hall as part of the Albert Sessions. Tickets for their tour will also be available this Friday.

The Foals will be taking part in a selection of Royal Albert Hall education initiatives around their concerts as part of the Halls public benefit remit. These will include music workshops with teenagers from around London, press conferences with young journalists as well as Q&A career sessions with Peter Mensch from Q Prime management, offering students an opportunity to present questions to one of the biggest music management names.

The new album “Holy Fire” has been recorded by the prestigious production duo, Flood & Moulder at Assault and Battery studios based in London. The studios latest work also included the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, PJ Harvey, Nine Inch Nails and The Killers.

The band were last year nominated for a Mercury nomination with their second studio album “Total Life Forever”, and were also awarded “Best Single” at the 2011 NME awards among others.

Despite the two year gap, the Foals’ new sound is “dirtier, swapier, and more booty shaking” than the last, with their new single described as three urgent minutes set out to raise the dead. Reflecting the reportedly ‘swampy’ sound, their new track is laced with references to claustrophobia and narcissism.

The Foals have also announced details of a short tour of intimate venues this November and December.
