A sick and twisted plot to kidnap Canadian superstar Justin Bieber was foiled last month, after crazed killer Dana Martin tried to arrange the strangling and castrating of the singer via his prison cell.
The plan, which was luckily thwarted just 10 days before it was set to take place, could have potentially ended with Bieber’s testicles being removed with garden shears - with Martin allegedly putting a $2500 (or £1550) bounty on either of Bieber’s crown jewels.
Martin - who is in prison serving two life sentences for the raping and killing of a 15 year-old girl in 2000 - is obsessed with Bieber, and has a tattoo of the star on his leg. But, convinced that the Canadian was ignoring his attempts to contact him, he decided that Bieber - as well as his bodyguard and two others - deserved to be killed.
So, from the confines of his prison, he enlisted the help of Mark Staake - who in turn recruited his nephew Tanner Ruane - to kidnap, strangle, and then castrate the world-famous popstar at the time of two gigs in New York’s Madison Square Garden, which took place on November 28th and 29th.
Staake, who was staying in the same prison as Martin, was released on October 19th, and began plotting the grisly kidnapping - and even purchased some hand-held garden shears as well as a paisley tie (advised so by Martin, who used them as a calling-card of sorts with his murder).
But, after Martin informed prison wardens of his plot in prison, the plan was luckily foiled. Staake and Ruane were pulled over on November 19th, after police noticed that he had an outstanding arrest warrant for driving offences. They released Ruane, but after hearing of Martin’s plot, they recorded a phone call between Staake and Martin - and realised what was set to take place.
The following day on November 20th, police pulled Staake over again - and found the pair of garden shears in his car. Both Staake and Ruane have now been arrested, and Bieber’s balls now remain intact for years to come.
According to The Sun, police reports read: “When Mr Martin asked what Mr Staake had bought to castrate the victims, Mr Ruane stated that he had bought a pair of hand-held hedge clippers. In response to Mr Staake’s reluctance to follow through with the castrations, Mr Ruane stated he was going to do it and get ‘five large for each one I get’. Mr Martin confirmed that Mr Ruane was going to get $2,500 per testicle.”
A court document explaining the motives of the plot says: “When asked to explain why Victim 3 (Bieber) was to be killed, Mr Martin stated that Victim 3 has a measure of fame and that he had become infatuated with Victim 3. Mr Martin stated he had attempted to solicit correspondence on numerous occasions and that Victim 3 never returned in kind. This perceived slight made Mr Martin upset and, coupled with Mr Martin’s perception of being a ‘nobody’ in prison, led him to begin plotting the kidnap and murder.”
It continued: “Mr Martin stated he was seeking a measure of notoriety so that there would be people outside of prison who would know who he was.”
The warped plot is one of the most messed up things we’ve seen in a long while, but has luckily been foiled - meaning you’ll still be able to catch him on his up and coming UK and Ireland tour next February and March.
